SILVER SPRING TOWNSHIP VETERANS
MEMORIAL DESIGN UPDATE

Mechanicsburg, PA - I am pleased to announce that 25 designs were received in response to the Request for Designs for the Silver Spring Veterans Memorial.  The number and quality of the submissions was very impressive.   Please note that numerous registrants have inquired about the timeframe for the selection process.  As indicated in the RFD, the designs are currently being reviewed and scored on the Eligibility Criteria, the Design Parameters, and the Criteria for Selection.  A Design/Build work group will submit  the results of the scoring and their recommendations on  the designs to the full Veterans Committee, who in turn will develop their recommendations to forward to the Board of Supervisors.  The Veterans Committee may select one or more designs or combinations of designs to present to the Board.  The Board of Supervisors meets twice a month and the meeting schedule will be adjusted for the holidays in the months of November and December.  Additionally, the Board will be very involved with the 2010 budget process.  In light of these circumstances, a final selection may not occur until the first of the year.  The Committee will post the announcement on the website, and all registrants will be informed via email on the results of the selection.  Additionally, at the dedication ceremony of the Memorial, all those who submitted a design will be recognized.
