Congratulations to Myles, from Highspire and owner of TagsnFlags.com.   He was the lucky winner of the Silver Spring Township Veterans Committee's bag, water bottle and Harley Davidson T-shirt package.  Appalachian Harley Davidson had graciously donated the T-shirts to our committee, to help raise money to build the Veterans Memorial.   A special thanks to everyone who had attended the May 15th Armed Forces Day at City Island, Harrisburg, especially those who had entered the raffle.  Your contribution directly helps pay for the memorial.

On behalf of the entire Veterans Memorial Committee, Chairman Kurt Minnich accepted the military's Outstanding Volunteer Award during the Silver Spring Township supervisors' meeting on August 11. A master sergeant in the Army Reserve, Kurt received the award from his commanding officer, Lt. Melissa Kurtz, shown at right. Also pictured are his wife Susan and children Ethan, David and Kate. "The entire committee has logged over 2,000 hours over the last three years working to make the memorial a reality," he said. "This award belongs to all of them as much as to me."

Kurt Minnich and other volunteers with the Veterans
Memorial Committee had a strong presence at Jubilee Day in Mechanicsburg, June 17, raising public awareness and soliciting individual donations toward construction of the memorial.
