The Veterans Listing of Silver Spring Township, PA lists those associated with the township who served in a branch of the US armed forces during peacetime or in war--from the present back to the American Revolution. To preserve privacy, this listing currently includes only deceased veterans, whose information was culled from public documents. Although efforts have been made to make this listing complete and accurate, it is a work in progress. Any additions or corrections are gladly accepted, and should be sent to bouchatc@hotmail.com. The purpose of this listing is to support the better understanding of veterans' service by providing a searchable and sortable database for the use of researchers. It can be used by genealogists to learn more about family members from this area. It is also available for students and others interested in learning more about local history, and the contribution of local residents to America's defense and civil actions. This listing supports school projects that incorporate the region's history into its lessons by offering a starting point for further research through professional facilities at the Cumberland County Historical Society, the Mechanicsburg Museum Association, and Carlisle Barrack's Military History Institute--the "attic" of the US Army.
