Use these music, movie, and reading assignments as background to better appreciate the situation of Americans during the long period of the Cold War. Over 40 year period, cultural tastes and perceptions changed, which is why these lists are divided between the early and later Cold War Periods. These works reveal how the situation was perceived at the time and reactions of the era's participants. Some of the works included were made afterward and help to put the events of the time into better context. Some of this material is available on the internet, through a school or public library, or from commercial sources through purchases.
