Historic Veterans Roster
These rosters list veterans and currently serving members of the US armed forces-from all services, all eras, peacetime and war from the American War of Independence to the present. The information is gathered from public documents or volunteered by the members themselves. Because of the proximity, the names included are mainly from central Pennsylvania. However, the lists are open to all veterans. There are two lists: one of living veterans and the other of historic veterans.
The purpose of these listings is to support the better understanding of the service and sacrifice of veterans by providing searchable and sortable databases for the use of researchers. These can be used by genealogists to learn more about family members from this area. It is also available for students and others interested in learning about history, and the contribution of local residents to America's defense. These listings are only a starting point for further research through local professional facilities at the Cumberland County Historical Society, the Mechanicsburg Museum Association, and the Carlisle Barrack's Army History and Education center - the "attic" of the US Army. Although efforts have been made to make this listing complete and accurate, it is a work in progress.
With proper permission, we will add the names of living veterans to this list when requested.
This list contains any American military veteran who has passed away from Silver Spring Township, Central Pennsylvania or elsewhere in the country. Our memorial and this website are meant to honor the service of all veterans, and this list reflects that.
